Family adopts short-spine dog with unusual condition

Squishy lived until he was four years old with his breeders. He has a rare genetic condition called “short spine syndrome.” His breeders were afraid that if anybody saw him, they would demand him to be euthanized. They also were afraid of being called cold and cruel and uncaring towards him. It came a day where Squishy could no longer live with them due to everybody in the house, having to move in different directions. 

The mother reached out to a known short spine advocate, Julie LeRoy out of Florida, Julie, then went to work very hard, finding a local rescue group that could adopt, accommodate a dog,  such as Squishy. Julie was able to find Utah Animal Advocacy Foundation who found a foster that was willing to help Squishy on his journey and to find a new home. While the foster had him, they were going out of town and needed somebody to pet-sit Squishy for two weeks. 

The couple then fell in love with Squishy and decided to adopt him. Squishy loves to play. He loves his toys. He loves even more to be lazy and lay on the couch all day. Frankie, the schnauzer is his best friend. Squishy is six years old, born on April 1st and he’s really lovable.
