First Glimpse of Saudi Arabia's 170km Mega-Skyscraper City

Believe it or not, this 170km long slash through the Saudi Arabian desert will one day be home to 9 million people.

Known as ‘The Line’ the planned city is just 200 metres wide and flanked by 500m-high mirrors that reflect the surrounding landscape.

Residents will live in vertically-stacked neighbourhoods in an area no larger than Ipswich - a city of 136,000 people - with a 20 minute journey by high-speed rail connecting one end to the other.
