Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba stated that the number of Russian troops stationed along the Ukraine border is “insufficient for full-scale offensive”, speaking at a briefing in Kiev on Wednesday.
“The number of Russian troops amassed along the border of Ukraine and in the occupied territories of Ukraine is large, it poses a direct threat to Ukraine. However, at the moment as we speak this number is insufficient for the full-scale offensive against Ukraine along the entire Ukrainian border,” he said.

Kuleba added that Russia also “lacks some important military indicators and systems to conduct such a large full-scale offensive.”

“That’s why we emphasise and we speak with our partners about that priority number one today is to keep things under control to be realistic in the assessment of immediate threat while not diminishing the threat of the potential military invasion,” he explained.

Kuleba also said that “diplomatic contacts with Russia continue. While diplomats talk, guns are silent.”

The US and the West have warned that Russia is planning to invade Ukraine amid a troop build-up on the regions around the Russia-Ukraine border. Moscow has repeatedly dismissed the accusations as “disinformation”.
