France: Leftist leader Melenchon hosts rally in Paris

Supporters of La France Insoumise, the left-wing political party led by Jean-Luc Melanchon, gathered in Paris this Sunday, for the first rally of the campaign.
One supporter named Guy Friadt said his support for Melenchon was based on: “common interest such as the defence of public services.”
Melenchon used the opportunity to lash out at his opponents, including French President Emmanuel Macron, whom he accused of rejecting dialogue, passionately telling his audience: “(Macron) must accept the debate, he is not above democracy.”
According to official numbers of La France Insoumise around 3,000 people attended Jean-Luc Melenchon’s meeting.

SOT, Jean-Luc Melenchon, Presidential candidate (French): “I am already making an appointment with you, the one for our presidential campaign, in the open air, in the light of the sun which we hope will rise tomorrow on the beautiful, joyful, magnificent victory.”

SOT, Jean-Luc Melenchon, Presidential candidate (French): “(There are) the partisans of the great gridlock caused by the great substitution, Mr Zemmour, Ms Le Pen and some others; there are the friends of the great (social) dismantling caused by the obligation of the productive performance required from society: these are Macron, Pecresse, you make the list you want.”
SOT, Jean-Luc Melenchon, Presidential candidate (French): “Everyone lives, thinks, acts as they like: we come from all origins, from the left and beyond, we can be of all genders, colours, religions and have our own vision of the world. But we have a programme in common.”

SOT, Guy Friadt, Supporter (French): “I joined Melenchon in 2012 to defend a common programme, which today is called ‘The Common Future,’ in the common interest such as the defence of public services.”
