France: Queues at vaccination centres in Paris as ‘Health pass’ expires

Dozens were seen queuing in Paris on Saturday, to receive their booster dose of the COVID-19 vaccination as the vaccination pass replaces the health pass.

From Saturday, guests will need to show proof of full vaccination including booster to gain entry to bars, restaurants and cultural spaces. A negative test will no longer suffice.

Some receiving the booster shot indicated that the government’s decision played a role in their own. “I came to get my third dose of vaccine because from today, if I didn’t get the three doses, I wouldn’t be able to enter any public place,” explained patient Artus following his vaccination.

One doctor commented on the large turnout of young people: “It is very clear that many young people have come to receive their first dose of vaccine (for the purposes of the vaccination health pass),” he said.

The bill to change the regulations was passed on Thursday by a vote of 249 votes to 93, with 27 abstentions.
