Yellow vests demonstrators took to the Parisian street on Saturday to protest against mandatory vaccinations, vaccinations of children and the French health pass.
The march started at noon and went from Place Denfert-Rochereau across the French capital to end at Place de la Nation.
Protesters proceeded through the city chanting slogans including, ‘Resistance, freedom’ and ‘Even if Macron does not want it, we are here.’
Yellow vest protester and organiser of the march Jean-Christian predicted even bigger protests for the future since the country is approaching a presidential election in 2022.
“I say to everyone: be in the street, it is our only strength that we have left. If tomorrow we do not occupy the street, we will become invisible,” he said.
Some protesters accused the government of dividing and excluding people by introducing COVID-19 measures like the health pass, while others protested vaccination requirements for their children.
Last July, France implemented a health pass giving special privileges to vaccinated citizens to encourage vaccination against COVID-19 and to help stop the virus from spreading. The Yellow Vest movement has organised several protests against the government’s COVID-19 regulations over the last few months.

SOT, Francois, Parisian Yellow Vest (French): “The Health pass is useless, since there are no checks, I do not see why to go to the restaurant you have to ask for Macron’s permission. It is useless, it disadvantages the economy, it is a monsterous stupidity.”

SOT, Gaelle, Parisian Yellow Vest protester (French): “I have children, I have three, two 9-year-olds, and a 19-year-old. I refuse that they will be vaccinated, all, (inaudible) from the 19-year-old to the two 9-year-olds. It is out of the question that they will be vaccinated, do they have to have health problems? While they are in great shape? We may have had the COVID virus but we got over it very well. It gets dangerous because they (the government) attack our children, it is not fair.”

M/S T-shirt reading (French): ‘Liberty, fraternity, solidarity’ crossed out with red cross and below: ‘Welcome to the world after’

SOT, Pascale, Parisian Yellow Vest protester (French): “Those who are not vaccinated have automatically become outcasts, even worse, they lose their jobs, they lose their dignity, they no longer have the right to leisure, no longer the right to culture. So they divide the French, it’s extremely serious, it’s really unheard of.”

SOT, Jean-Christian, Yellow Vest protester and organiser (French): “I think that the mobilisation will still accelerate since we will approach the electoral deadlines. I say to everyone: be in the street, it is our only strength that we have left. If tomorrow we do not occupy the street, we will become invisible.”
