A group of farmers took part in a protest for better prices and in favour of sustainable agricultural and food policies in Berlin on Saturday.

Over 60 organisations from agricultural sectors are calling for a quick and decisive restructuring of the agriculture and food industry in wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Guided by the ‘We are fed up’ alliance, demonstrators gathered in the German capital with tractors, setting up a huge straw lettering on the waterside of the Bundestag reading ‘Agrarwende jetzt!’ (Agricultural change now).

Protesters also gathered in front of the Ministry of Food and Agriculture where Green politician and Minister Cem Ozdemir gave a speech urging for a different agricultural policy such as a rapid conversion of agriculture to species-appropriate animal husbandry and fairer producer prices.

A larger demonstration on tractors was postponed due to the pandemic.
