Still images from Blessem, near Cologne, taken on Friday, showed the extent of devastation following flash floods in the area.

Houses were submerged with some collapsing as rising waters triggered a landslides.

Over 100 people were killed and more than 1,000 went missing after the floods hit parts of western Germany.
