Germany: Houses swept away by floodwaters in Rhineland-Palatinate town, dozens missing

Emergency operations were ongoing after rising floods swept away four houses and damaged two more in the district of Walporzheim in Rhineland-Palatinate on Thursday.

Six houses collapsed along the river with dozens still missing in the area following the flash floods.

In the upcoming days, the German army is expected to deploy 300 soldiers in Rhineland-Palatinate and North Rhine-Westphalia, the two most affected states in order to participate in search and rescue operations.
