Outgoing German Chancellor Angela Merkel posed with a flock of parrots during a visit to a bird sanctuary in Marlow, northeastern Germany on Thursday.

The lorikeet parrots perched variously on Merkel’s head, shoulders and hands as she had photos taken as part of an election tour of her home constituency Mecklenburg Western-Pomerania.
