EC President meets Merkel to discuss Germany's role in evacuating EU citizens from Afghanistan

President of the European Council Charles Michel was received by German Chancellor Angela Merkel in Berlin on Tuesday.
Michel confirmed that the two spoke about the recent evacuation of EU nationals from Afghanistan, as well as COVID-19.
“I thanked Chancellor Merkel for Germany’s help in evacuating EU nationals, staff and their families from Afghanistan. We discussed current challenges and EU broader agenda. Our vaccination strategy remains top priority to combat COVID-19 and rebuild a greener, more prosperous EU,” tweeted Michel after the meeting.
