Several protests against the federal government’s COVID-19 measures and possible vaccination mandates to curb the spread of the virus took place in Nuremberg on Thursday.

As the local police announced, over a thousand people gathered for the so-called ‘corona walks’ in the city centre on Thursday evening.

The participants marched through the streets chanting slogans demanding self-determination and freedom of choice in matters of the COVID-19 vaccine.

The rally in Nuremberg’s inner city had previously been cancelled by the organisers.

Nuremberg police approved the march through the city centre to de-escalate when people gathered despite the ban.

At the same time, 200 people met in the Rothenbach district of Nuremberg for another corona protest with signs saying ‘No vaccination mandate’ and ‘No vaccination experiments on children’.

Similar protests happened in several cities in Central and Upper Franconia such as Hof, Selb and Schwabach that evening. According to the police, the demonstrations went largely without incident.
