The Conservatives have lost North Shropshire, a Brexit-voting Tory stronghold that has been loyal to the party for around 200 years.

The loss of ‘true blue’ constituency is being pinned on the alleged sleaze in the Conservative government from all sides.

Rather than focussing on the rapid rise of the Omicron variant, the government have spent weeks deflecting allegations of Christmas parties during a time when the population was instructed to stay at home.

It’s another blow for Boris Johnson, who himself admits that the focus has been on politicians rather than addressing one of the greatest crises to ever face the UK.

As his own party continues to turn against him, many people now consider the Prime Minister unfit to lead the country.
