Hong Kong: City tightens entry rules as it confirms third Omicron case

Hong Kong will impose tighter restrictions on those who return from countries with Omicron outbreaks, health officials announced on Monday as the city reported a third case involving the coronavirus variant.

“At present, a total of 3 imported Omicron cases have been found in Hong Kong, all of which have been successfully detected by us and have not flowed into the community,” said Professor Sophia Chan, Hong Kong Secretary for Food and Health, on Monday at a press briefing.

Officials also announced that all countries with a community outbreak of Omicron cases will be listed as Group A high-risk regions. Non-Hong Kong residents who have stayed there within 21 days will not be allowed to enter Hong Kong.
