Hundreds of dinosaur footprints discovered in Poland's Borkowice

Hundreds of well-preserved dinosaur footprints have been uncovered in Borkowice in Poland, as seen on Friday. The tracks were found in an opencast clay mine.

“The find is so important because we can learn more about the early history of dinosaurs evolution and we can find ancestors of these famous dinosaurs like Stegosaurus, like Tirex because we have both herbivorous and predatory dinosaurs there,” said Professor Grzegorz Pienkowsk from National Geological Institute in Warsaw. “Uniqueness of the quality of the tracks will allow for very precise anatomical analysis of their feet but also of their behaviour,” he added.

Even the scaly skin of the dinosaurs are visible in some tracks. The finding could shed some light on the complex ecosystem that was prevalent millions of years ago.
