Around 2,000 members of the military, police, and paramilitary groups are conducting a search and rescue mission after a glacial collapse in Northern India.

A break in a Himalayan glacier sent a wall of water cascading down the mountain, destroying a hydroelectric plant, damaging another, and flattening homes in Uttarakhand.

Villages in Chamoli district were evacuated, but officials say well over a hundred and fifty people are still missing after the flood, and at least 18 people are dead - though authorities said the death toll was sure to rise.
