Devotees of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) gathered in Bangalore, Saturday, to protest recent violence against Hindu people and temples in Bangladesh.
Reportedly over 700 Krishna temples in more than 100 countries held a global protest on Saturday to decry attacks against Hindus.
“We as an entire International organization, ISCKON is expressing the solidarity with these minorities in Bangladesh that we are with you and to demonstrate that our concern for the pain and anguish the devotees have gone through,” Madhu Pandit Dasa, president of ISKCON Bangalore, said.
Violence has erupted in recent weeks in Bangladesh against Hindus in the majority Muslim country. Attacks have led to the deaths of at least six people, according to local reports. Hindus religious sites and Hindu people’s homes were also targeted as several temples have been vandalised and at least 20 homes set alight.
Bangladesh is a Muslim-majority country, with Hindus comprising an estimated 10 percent of the population.
The spate of violence began following an alleged blasphemous incident involving a Quran.

SOT, Madhu Pandit Dasa, President of ISKCON Bangalore: “There are 17 temples of ISCKON in Bangladesh and the police have given protection to all the temples and thousands of devotees are connected to these temples. Though they are feeling sad, they are hoping that there will be no such incidents in the future.”
