Iran: FM spox welcomes Russia-Ukraine peace talks, calls for "meaningful dialogue"

Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Saeed Khatibzadeh welcomed the peace talks between Ukraine and Russia, at his weekly press conference in Tehran on Monday, as Moscow’s military offensive enters fifth day.
“The negotiation between Russia and Ukraine was considered and recommended by us since day one. As far as possible, urgent negotiations to end the conflicts should have been and should be on the agenda,” said Khatibzadeh. He added, “Peaceful solution or political negotiations is a lasting solution to the problems that have existed in that region for decades, and we strive to encourage all parties to a meaningful dialogue to resolve these issues.”
On the Iran nuclear deal negotiations, the Foreign Ministry spokesperson said reviving a 2015 nuclear deal is possible if Western powers take a political decision to resolve remaining issues, as indirect negotiations between Tehran and Washington enter a crucial stage.

On the Polish-Ukrainian border, which is now the main entry point, there are vehicles for transporting Iranians and students; the flags of the Islamic Republic of Iran have been placed on some vans and some other places.”

What we have done in these few days, in all these contacts, we have tried to make the logic and reason of the red lines of the Islamic Republic of Iran and how to resolve these issues completely clear to both the Western side and also to elaborate Tehran’s positions.”

God willing, in the coming days, we will have to see whether the other party has made its own political decisions or not.”
