Thousands of Tehran residents were seen rallying on Pupil Day on Thursday to renew their allegiances to the Iranian republic and to protest Western powers, mainly the US.
Protesters burned a US flag and carried anti-US banners and signs while chanting anti-US sentiments. Hossein Salami, Commander-in-chief of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, gave a speech saying “they came to steal our oil. And we recognized based on a precise scenario that if we seize this ship, the Americans would intervene. This was predicted.”
He then on went on to say “we have told the whole world that we never go after any country. Our presence everywhere is based on the request of governments and the will of nations. Our influence is not physical, it is spiritual. We are never looking for war, but we are determined to defend our interests.”
Pupil Day, locally known as the 13th of Aban, marks three historical events Iran’s modern history. The first is that of Khomeini’s exile, the second was the killing of protesters at a university campus by the former Shah dynasty, and the third was the takeover of the US embassy by students in 1979.

SOT, Mohammad Ali Faraji, Demonstrator: “I, as a revolutionary student, should say to America and Joe Biden that we will never be ready to negotiate with the big devil. Big devil is something that Imam Khomeini told to America. It’s their nickname in Iran because they have killed lots of persons after the Second World War.”

SOT, Hossein Salami, Commander-in-chief of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (Farsi): “They came to steal our oil. And we recognized based on a precise scenario that if we seize this ship, the Americans would intervene. This was predicted.”

SOT, Hossein Salami, Commander-in-chief of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (Farsi): “In the face of the system, it (the US) was hit everywhere. Our land is a forbidden region for it. The US is not intimate for this land, its eyes should not see the soil of this land, its eyes should not see the people of this land. This is a forbidden region.”

SOT, Hossein Salami, Commander-in-chief of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (Farsi): “We have told the whole world that we never go after any country. Our presence everywhere is based on the request of governments and the will of nations. Our influence is not physical, it is spiritual. We are never looking for war, but we are determined to defend our interests.”
