Iran: President Raisi pledges to fight corruption and improve people's livelihoods

Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi announced his administration’s ‘priority’ was improving people’s livelihoods and fighting corruption during his first meeting with the new cabinet ministers in Tehran on Thursday.

“Today, we are witnessing conditions in the country that is not appropriate for the great nation of Iran,” said Raisi, Iranian President, adding, “The important thing that people can expect from the government today is the serious fight against corruption.”

Raisi also assured that vaccinations against COVID-19 would accelerate across the country as his government speeded up local manufacturing of the jabs and imports of foreign vaccines.
The new cabinet’s first meeting comes as Iranian lawmakers gave votes of confidence to 18 out of 19 ministers proposed by Raisi on Wednesday.

People expect us to work on this issue hardly. Yes, there are sanctions, there are pressures. But we can, thanks to God Almighty, and with the help of the people themselves ask them to participate. Honorable gentlemen in various fields in the ministries must know the place through which corruption infiltrates, and they must try to correct the context of corruption, so that every day in the country we would not see new issues or cases, God willing.”

In this government, we must learn from what happened to the previous governments. This is what was in the Supreme Leader’s orders about the various issues that our dear people are complaining about and upset about today.”

We must be able to guarantee the issue of vaccination and the issue of health in the country in a short period of time. And this requires double work.
