‘Israel Demands UN Chief Guterres to Resign Over Hamas Comment’

The Israeli ambassador to the United Nations demanded the resignation of Secretary-General António Guterres, accusing him of failing to condemn atrocities on Israeli civilians.

On Tuesday, the United Nations Security Council gathered in New York to discuss the ongoing conflict in Israel and Gaza.

Secretary-General Antonio Guterres told the council that both sides “should respect their obligations under international humanitarian law.”

“It is important to also recognise the attacks by Hamas did not happen in a vacuum. The Palestinian people have been subjected to 56 years of suffocating occupation,” Guterres said.
