Israel: Relatives of Italian cable-car disaster survivor arrive for Tel Aviv custody hearing

Relatives of a 6-year-old boy who survived an Italian cable car crash, and is now embroiled in a custody battle following an alleged kidnapping, were seen arriving at a Tel Aviv family court on Friday.

Shmuel Peleg, grandfather of crash survivor Eitan Biran, along with grandmother Ester Coen Peleg, and paternal aunt Aya Biran, all arrived for the hearing.

Biran is the lone survivor of a devastating May cable-car crash that occurred in Northern Italy, killing fourteen people, including his parents and brother.

After being placed in the care of his maternal aunt in Italy, Biran’s grandfather flew him to Israel in an alleged kidnapping in September, prompting the custody dispute.
