ISS: "I still feel like I"m dreaming" - movie crew after arriving at station

Actress Yulia Peresild, director Klim Shipenko, and cosmonaut Anton Shkaplerov, who arrived at the ISS, shared their emotions about the flight on Tuesday.

“Everything was new for us today. Every ten seconds brought something of their own, new. Of course, we just met with everyone who already lives here, on the ISS, for a long time. Now we will get acquainted. I still feel like I’m dreaming right now,” Peresild said.

Shipenko added that everything that was happening came as shock for them but a pleasant one.

“But we are glad to have arrived at the ISS, we are glad that we are so warmly welcomed, and now we will realise. I think awareness of where we are now, will come with time,” he said.

Cosmonaut Anton Shkaplerov praised Peresild and Shipenko for their help in the flight to the ISS and docking.

It’s planned that the filmmakers will spend 12 days in orbit, and 10 of them will be devoted to shooting the first-ever full-length feature film in space.

The preparation of the participants of the main and backup cast of the film ‘The Challenge’ took four months.

Shipenko and Peresild will return to Earth aboard the Soyuz MS-18 spacecraft together with cosmonaut Oleg Novitsky, who has been on the ISS since spring, while Anton Shkaplerov will continue working at the station.

Klim Shipenko, Director arrived at ISS (Russian): “Yes, of course, so it seems to me, I can’t believe that this is really happening – how long have we been waiting for it? There is a feeling that it’s a dream. Everything that happened was a shock for us in every sense of the word – a shock. But a pleasant one. But we are glad to have arrived at the ISS, we are glad that we are so warmly welcomed, and now we will realise. I think awareness of where we are now will come with time. We still have something like this with feelings so far. We just flew in five minutes ago, swam in here.”

Anton Shkaplerov, Cosmonaut (Russian): “I liked that it was the fastest flight to the station for me, only two turns – 2-3 hours. It was pretty fast, there was a slight hitch at the end, but we acted as we were taught at the cosmonaut training centre.”

SOT, Anton Shkaplerov, Cosmonaut (Russian): “Firstly, they did not interfere but helped, where I asked, to hold there [inaudible], or a tablet that prevented me from watching [inaudible], to control the process. So well done, acted as were taught.”
