Russia’s Progress MS-17 cargo spacecraft undocked from the International Space Station (ISS) on Thursday to later re-enter Earth’s atmosphere for its safe destruction.

It left the docking port on Russia’s Nauka lab module at 11:22 GMT, making way for the new Prichal module due to arrive at the station on Friday.

The MS-17 arrived at the station in July to deliver food, fuel, and supplies for the orbiting outpost’s crew.

According to Russia’s space agency Roscosmos, the new Prichal module will add five docking slots to the station and also expand the technical and operational capabilities of the Russian segment of the ISS.
