Italy: Milano Centrale roof partially damaged following strong winds

Strong winds hit the northern Italian city of Milan on Monday, leaving the roof of Milano Centrale train station partially damaged.

Panes could be seen missing from the building roof, with police appearing to direct commuters away from the damaged area.

Elsewhere in the city, trees were seen toppled across streets by gales of up to 90 kilometres per hour (56 miles per hour).

Local authorities have recommended against travelling unless absolutely necessary, and instructed drivers to to avoid tree-lined avenues buildings with scaffolding.
