Legendary Brazilian former footballer Ronaldinho laid memorial wreaths outside a fire station in the Lebanese capital on Wednesday, nearly a week prior to the first anniversary of the devastating Beirut Port blast.

Dozens of local residents and football fans gathered to welcome Ronaldinho, who signed football shirts and posed for pictures.

Clashes broke out between local residents and Lebanese Civil Defence officers during a stampede, injuring four photographers and damaging their equipment.

Next Wednesday marks the one-year anniversary of the blast, which caused massive destruction in Beirut and killed more than 200 people while injured some 6,500 more.
