Clashes erupted between riot police and protesters, among whom were families of the Beirut blast victims, outside the residence of the Lebanese caretaker Interior Minister Mohamad Fahmy, on Tuesday.

Protesters could be seen marching in the capital’s streets while carrying coffins with pictures of the victims.

The demonstrators marched to the residence of the caretaker interior minister’s home, demanding him to lift the immunity of all defendants and suspects in the port explosion case.

Police forces used tear gas and rubber bullets to stop protesters from storming the minister’s residence. Injured were reported on both sides.

Earlier, Fahmy refused to permit a legal request to interrogate General Security Chief Major-General Abbas Ibrahim alongside several deputies.

SOT, Protester (Arabic): “The authorities carry the responsibility for what happened to every Lebanese citizen, and they will pay a very high price for what happened. We do not have anything to lose anymore, do you hear me (protesters)? We do not have anything to lose anymore, as we have already lost everything, they killed us, blew us up, trampled on us and shed our blood, we will shed their blood and the blood of their children.”
