Angry demonstrators have clashed with police at an anti-government gathering in downtown Beirut.

Law enforcement in riot gear fired tear gas after several protesters attempted to break through barriers.

Many citizens blame Lebanon’s political elite for the blast that killed at least 154.

Officials were repeatedly warned the presence of 2,750 tons of ammonium nitrate at the port posed a grave danger, however nobody acted to remove it.

At least 16 people have been question as part of an investigation into the explosion.
