US President Joe Biden delivers remarks on infrastructure, including “strengthening the nation’s supply chains, revitalizing American manufacturing, and creating good-paying union jobs” on Friday, January 28, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The previously-scheduled visit comes hours after a bridge collapsed in the same city.

A bridge collapsed early Friday morning near Frick Park, causing several vehicles and a bus to crash down into a ravine.

There were no initial reports of injuries, but some schools moved to remote learning due to high call-offs among bus drivers, according to a statement released by the district. There was a strong smell of natural gas in the area and the gas line was cut as a result.

President Biden was scheduled to visit the city to talk about a $1 trillion infrastructure bill that includes bridge maintenance.
