Germany’s Free Democratic Party (FDP) is holding press statement in Berlin on Monday, October 18. The party’s leadership is expected to decide on whether to open formal coalition talks with Social Democratic Party (SPD) and The Greens (Die Grunen), which would make up the ‘traffic light’ coalition.

On Sunday, Green Party MPs and members voted by a large majority in favour of starting talks to form the ‘traffic light’ coalition. The SPD had already voted unanimously on Friday in favour of starting coalition negotiations with the Greens and the FDP.
