Ruptly is live from Biloxi, east of New Orleans on Monday, August 30, the day after Hurricane Ida, one of the most powerful storms ever to hit the United States, made landfall on the country’s eastern coast near Port Fourchon in Louisiana. Ida was downgraded to a tropical storm on Monday morning, hours after hitting Louisiana.

One person has died and over one million people have been left without power as a result of the devastation caused by Hurricane Ida. The hurricane was so strong it reversed the flow of the Mississippi River on Sunday.

The hurricane made landfall on the same day as Hurricane Katrina did 16 years ago - which brought colossal damage and claimed at least 1,800 lives.
