United Nations International Court of Justice (ICJ) holds a public hearing on Ukraine’s claims against Russia under the Genocide Convention in The Hague on Monday, March 7, amid the ongoing Russian military operation in Ukraine.

The hearing is devoted to the request for the indication of provisional measures presented by Ukraine, in the case concerning Allegations of Genocide under the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide.

Russia’s military incursion, which started in the early hours of Thursday, February 24, has drawn international condemnation, with Western countries imposing major sanctions. On Wednesday, March 2, 141 countries voted to condemn Russia at the United Nations while only five countries including Russia itself voted against the resolution.
