Ruptly is live outside Athens as firefighters are battling the wildfires in the Greek capital’s suburbs on Tuesday, August 3.

Amid severe temperatures surpassing 40 degrees Celsius (104 Fahrenheit), during Greece’s worst heatwave in over 30 years, fires have broken out across the country.

On Tuesday morning, a major fire raged north of Athens, threatening the capital with widespread power cuts, as electrical infrastructure has been partially affected.
