Ruptly is live outside Pechersky District Court in Kiev on Friday, January 28 as the court deliberates the appeal of former Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko against restrictive measures ahead of his treason trial.
Mr Poroshenko, who is being accused of treason over his alleged involvement in financing separatist fighters in eastern Ukraine via the illegal sale of coal during his time in office, returned to Kiev for the hearing which would have his pre-trial restriction determined.

The court decided to reject the prosecution’s request to arrest him and set bail, while ordering him to surrender his passport, effectively banning him from leaving the country.
