The UN Security Council holds a meeting on Monday, January 31, in New York City, to discuss threats to international peace and security in Ukraine.

On Friday, January 28, the meeting was called a “clear PR stunt” by Russia’s deputy ambassador to the UN, Dmitry Polyanskiy. The US says Russia’s buildup of troops along its border with Ukraine threatens international peace and security.

Earlier on Friday, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that Russia had no intention to attack Ukraine and “does not want war” and is ready to have a dialogue with President Zelensky.
