The UN Security Council convenes on Monday, August 30 to discuss the situation in Afghanistan, as Western forces wrap up evacuation flights from Kabul.
The meeting comes a day after French President Emmanuel Macron said that France and the UK will be seeking the creation of a safe zone in Afghanistan, which will be used for carrying out humanitarian activities.
Taliban forces took over control of the country two weeks ago, shortly before the complete withdrawal of US troops after 20 years of war.
