Locals hit each other with burning brooms at fiery festival in Spain

The Los Escobazos festival made its fiery return to the small Spanish town of Jarandilla de la Vera, after it had been put on hold amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

On December 7 locals light bonfires and brooms, and march through the streets chanting ‘Viva’ to the Immaculate Conception of the Virgin Mary.

Participants also hit each other with their burning brooms, but claim that no one gets hurt as hitting above the waits is not allowed.
