On Thursday the personnel of the Military Emergency Unit (UME) continued removing ashes from the roofs in the town of Las Manchas.

UME members used brooms, shovels, and an excavator to remove the accumulated ash on roofs and roads.

The main cone of La Palma volcano expelled ash again on Tuesday after around 30 hours without doing so, and the seismicity associated with the volcanic eruption broke a record with 374 recorded earthquakes, the highest since it began to expel lava on 19 September.

According to the spokesmen of the Canarias Volcanic Emergency Plan (Pevolca), the area affected by the lava is estimated at 1,134 hectares.
