The European Court of Justice in Luxembourg annulled agriculture and fishing agreements which allowed Morocco to export goods from West Sahara on Wednesday.

The court ruled that the deals between the EU and Morocco were reached without the consent from the people of the disputed region.

The case was brought before the court by the Polisario Front - a group seeking independence for the territory which is controlled by Morocco.

The EU and Morocco issued a joint statement saying they would act to lessen the court decision’s impact on the bilateral trade.
