Magnetic beauty! Northern Lights spotted in sky over Murmansk region

The sky above the Pak River, 30 km (18.6 miles) from Murmansk, has been illuminated by one of the most beautiful natural phenomena on the planet; the Northern Lights.

The sky could be seen shimmering in different colours, from dark purple to light turquoise, on Friday.

The Northern Lights, or Aurora Borealis, is a glow from the upper atmosphere of Earth’s magnetosphere as it interacts with charged solar wind particles.
