Manipur-based inventor Prem Ningombam, 20, showcased his robotic costumes made from discarded materials and electronic waste at his workplace on Monday.
“Most of my works are made of cardboard and telephonic scraps and then I bought some low-budget materials and made all this stuff,” stated the inventor Prem Ningombam.
Prem Ningombam from Heirok village was seen in his workplace taking materials from various electronic toys, speaker frames, infusion tubes, and other waste materials to build mechanisms and costume parts.
“I spent two to three hours a day and was working on this for around three to four months,” said Prem Ningombam.
As a big sci-fi fan, films like ‘Ironman’ and ‘Edge of Tomorrow’ fascinated him and served as an inspiration. He recorded his ideas on blueprints and realised them.
“If he gets the full opportunity then he will work to his best and he can do world-class level works,” said Rishikanta Sharma, the uncle of the inventor.
Ningombam wants to be a role model for other crafters, but for now he efficiently repairs televisions, radios and emergency lamps at home that would otherwise require an electrician.
