‘MOCKERY of Justice’: Poisoned Putin Critic Alexei Navalny Arrested on Return to Moscow

Prominent Russian opposition activist Alexei Navalny has been arrested after returning to Moscow - the first time he has set foot in the Russian capital since he was poisoned last year.

A number of his supporters were also detained during a demonstration outside the airport at which he was due to land.

Speaking at a hastily organised trial at a police station on the outskirts of Moscow, Navalny said his treatment was a “mockery of justice” and “lawlessness of the highest grade”.

Navalny was held shortly after arriving from Germany where he was treated for a Novichok nerve agent attack, which he blames on the Kremlin.
