Netherlands: MH17 "undeniably" downed by BUK missile, suspects "fully responsible" - prosecutors

Three Russians and a Ukrainian were responsible for downing Malaysia Airlines flight MH17, and the aircraft was ‘undeniably’ shot down by a BUK missile, Dutch prosecutors told the court at the Schiphol Judicial Complex in Badhoevedorp on Tuesday as the MH17 trial continues.
The Public Prosecution Service stated that forensic research into 370 fragments found in victims’ bodies have shown that they come from the so-called warhead of a BUK missile.
“It is clear from a substantial amount of evidence that flight MH17 was downed by a BUK missile fired with a BUK trailer of the 53rd Brigade of the Russian Armed Forces from a farm field near Pervormaiskyi Ukraine.” public prosecutor Thijs Berger told the court.
Berger said the four suspects, Russian nationals Oleg Pulatov, Igor Girkin, Sergey Dubinskiy and Ukrainian Leonid Kharchenko “worked together intensively to bring about the criminal offence, there was a clear mutual distribution of duties and all accused were active and essential in preparing and executing the offence and that’s why the four accused are fully responsible for causing the MH17 to crash, causing the deaths of all 198 people on board, and the murder of those on board.”
The closing arguments by the prosecution will continue on Wednesday when a sentencing demand is expected.
The trial that started in March 2020 following years of investigations, takes place against the background of emerging border tensions between Russia and Ukraine over the allegations of Moscow placing troops at the joint border.

Afterwards the trailer was removed to the Russian Federation.”
