Protesters scuffled with police in The Hague Saturday, after hundreds of trucks blocked the capital’s city centre for several hours in protest over the government’s COVID vaccine mandates and related measures. At least one person was injured.

The footage shows ‘Freedom Convoy’ supporters clashing with police, who respond with arrests, including the detention of an injured person. Trucks from across the Netherlands brought the city centre to a standstill, with several hundred vehicles blocking access to Binnehof, the seat of the Dutch government. More than 7,000 police units were reportedly deployed to prevent a blockade of the city’s infrastructure.

The protest coincides with similar demonstrations against COVID-19 measures across Europe, including Switzerland, Croatia, Italy, Austria, and Northern Ireland. It comes a day after Dutch police reportedly opened fire on protesters, injuring seven people during riots in Rotterdam.
