Nigerian police have reportedly opened fire on anti-police brutality demonstrators in the capital city of Lagos.

It’s believed two people were shot by officers in the city’s Lekki district.

The protesters were demonstrating against the alleged brutality of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS.

Demonstrations began on 8 October after a video, apparently showing SARS officers shooting a man, was widely shared on social media.

President Muhammadu Buhari had announced the disbandment of SARS on Sunday.

However, protesters rejected the president’s announcement, claiming officers from the controversial police unit were still on the streets.
