North Koreans marked the tenth death anniversary of former Supreme Leader Kim Jong Il, as seen in the capital Pyongyang in footage broadcast by state TV on Friday.
Citizens gathered outside the Kumsusan ‘Palace of the Sun’, where Kim Jong Il’s embalmed body rests, and laid flowers outside the city’s main administrative buildings and monuments.
Flags were at half-mast across the country and three minutes of silence were held, with residents bowing in a sign of respect.
