New fast-moving wildfires forced the evacuation of more than 100,000 people in Southern California, and seriously injured two firefighters.

Strong winds and dry weather fuelled the Silverado Fire, which grew to 72,000 acres.

Orange County Fire Authority (OCFA) deployed 500 firefighters to tackle the blaze.

As a result of the dangerous weather conditions, tens of thousands of people were left without electricity in a planned power cut-off.

Authorities are still investigating the cause of the fire, but according to local media it might have been started by equipment owned by electricity company Southern California Edison.
