Police used water cannons against protesters who blocked a port entrance, demonstrating against Italy’s COVID health pass for the third day in a row.

The protesters had organised a sit-in after the so-called ‘Green Pass’ became mandatory for all workers across Italy.

With it workers now have to prove they have either been vaccinated, tested negative, or recovered from the virus recently, to be able to enter their workplace.

Authorities hope the Green Pass will encourage those who are not vaccinated to get the jab.

Protesters see it as an infringement of their rights.

More than 85 percent of Italy’s eligible population have received at least one shot against COVID-19.
