‘Protesters Attack Police Convoy as Tensions Rise After Myanmar Military Coup’

Police have clashed with demonstrators for a fourth consecutive day amid growing tensions following the Myanmar military coup.

Supporters of ousted leader Aung San Suu Kyi charged a police convoy despite attempts by the military government to place a ban on demonstrations and impose a curfew in Yangon, Mandalay and the capital, Naypyitaw.

Police response to the protests has escalated from use of water cannons to firing rubber bullets and warning shots with live ammunition.

Suu Kyi and various senior leaders were detained when a military coup led by General Min Aung Hlaing.
