Protesters call for Austrian Chancellor Kurz to resign amid corruption allegations

Around 1,200 protesters protesters called for the resignation of Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz, who is under investigation on suspicion of bribery and breach of trust.

Prosecutors raided Kurz’s office on Wednesday morning, along with the OVP party headquarters in Vienna.

The Greens, who are the junior coalition party with Kurz’s conservative People’s Party, have questioned the Chancellor’s ability to continue governing.

Kurz’s previous coalition government with the far-right FPO fell apart over the ‘Ibiza-gate’ corruption scandal.

Currently the Chancellor is refusing to step down and denies all allegations 

His party maintains they stand behind their party leader, saying they will only continue to govern with Kurz as chancellor.
